Adopt a Labrador

We are always grateful of kind offers of homes for the dogs in our care.

If you are thinking of offering one of our Labradors a home, please note that we are more frequently being asked to help dogs which need specific home requirements, which can often be without other pets and / or children.

Dogs with behavioural issues are always supported under our Supported Training And Rehabilitation Scheme.

We rescue Labradors of all ages but typically young puppies and females are less frequently available. Please bear in mind that quite a few of the younger dogs that we rescue will be in need of some training – and a few of the older ones as well!

Sometimes pairs of dogs come into rescue that we would like to rehome together. Pairs can consist of two Labradors but, occasionally, they might be a Labrador with a non-Labrador companion dog.

We do not operate a waiting list system; we match dogs to homes and homes to dogs. We want the dog and the family to be happy together for the rest of the dog’s life.

A home assessment will be carried out prior to being considered for one of our dogs, and once you have been approved as a suitable new home, you will be contacted as soon as we have a suitable dog. We are unfortunately unable to provide a time frame as to when this will be. The more flexible you are, the easier it will be to match the correct dog to you and your home. Please be guided by the advice given to you by our experienced volunteers.

We will always support you with help and advice after re-homing, for the rest of the dog’s life.

Please note we take each home application on its own merits and what it can offer to a dog.  The Trust is unable to consider placing a dog into a home where they will be left on their own for more than 4 hours a day.
